Vodafone Idea finds Vishant Vora’s replacement for CTO position, while its Chief Legal Officer Kumar Das quits

Jagbir Singh will ensure network upgradation and expansion especially in priority 16 circles where VIL has chalked out plans to garner new subscribers.

Vodafone Idea Buys Airwaves in 5 Circles at Spectrum Auction

Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL), the telecom operator providing services under the brand ‘Vi’, has appointed Jagbir Singh as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He replaces Vishant Vora, who chose to move out of VIL in October 2020, as he intended to relocate to his home in the USA.

While taking charge as Chief Technical Officer, Jagbir Singh will ensure network upgradation and expansion especially in priority 16 circles where VIL has chalked out plans to garner new subscribers.

Singh is known to be a highly experienced telecom technology professional with over 30 years’ experience across India and South East Asia. He has been Group CTO with different telecom operators.

He has led technology platforms across 4G LTE, 3G/2G, Datacenter, Open RAN, IP/MPLS, CDN, NFV/SDN, OSS/BSS for mobile, fixed-line, and enterprise networks.

Most recently, he was working as Group CTIO at Smartfren Telecom, Indonesia, where he was responsible for network, IT /digital platforms, and enterprise business. Earlier to that role, he had worked as the Group CTO of Reliance Jio and helped it launch 4G services in the country. Singh also has technical experience from working for Samsung and Airtel for about a decade.

Commenting about the appointment, VIL MD and CEO Ravinder Takkar said, “Jagbir is a very well-known Technology Leader and brings considerable credibility, reputation in the industry, and deep operational expertise. Following our announcement of Vishant’s leaving. I am glad to inform you that Jagbir Singh will be joining us as CTO.”

Vodafone Idea Ltd’s (VIL) Chief Legal Officer Kumar Das has resigned, as the telecom operator appointed Manish Sansi in his place.

“This is to inform you that after a decade of a very successful stint, Kumar Das, our Chief Legal Officer will be leaving the company,” read an internal mail by VIL MD and CEO Ravinder Takkar.

Das had joined Vodafone India in 2010 and had established the legal, secretarial, compliance, fraud, risk & security (FRS) functions. He was involved in complex transactions including the setting up of Indus Towers Ltd and Vodafone Idea Ltd.

On the other hand, known to be an industry veteran with a career spanning over 24 years, Manish Sansi had worked with Vodafone Essar, Indus Towers, Uninor, and Tata Communications. In his most recent assignment, he was General Counsel India, Company Secretary at Tata Communications.
