This solution is designed to reconstruct the wireless network based on the cloud processing platform, allowing operators to deploy networks using this new concept and develop new business values; it also helps operators fully meet future performance challenges and versatile service requirements.

Based on the unified M-ICT platform (the integration of IT and CT service requirements), ZTE Cloud RAN is a fully virtual RAN platform, seamlessly integrating all modes of access including 2G, 3G, 4G, WiFi, IoT and 5G, as well as massive connections. In addition, ZTE Cloud RAN is based on PaaS architecture, and provides open interfaces for third parties which enables operators to quickly deploy various services in volatile circumstances in order to build a successful ecosystem.

Despite the ever-present global commercialisation of 4G technologies in today’s market, this has not stalled the research and development of 5G technologies by ZTE and its partners. 5G presents new challenges for RAN, such as processing performance, coordination capability, and service deployment. RAN is therefore required to continue evolving its architecture for the diverse use cases of the future, so as to achieve a seamless transition from 4G to 5G.

Presently, ZTE has signed strategic agreements with domestic and global customers to commercially deploy the ZTE Cloud RAN solution in Q2 2017.
