ZTE, BSNL sign MoU on 5G and IoT

ZTE Corporation said thta has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the areas of 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the largest Indian state-owned operator to deepen the cooperation in new generation of telecommunications technologies.

NEW DELHI: Chinese telecommunications giant ZTE said thta has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the areas of 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the largest Indian state-owned operator to deepen the cooperation in new generation of telecommunications technologies.

R.K. Mittal, Board Director and head of Consumer Mobile (CM) vertical at BSNL, and Fan Xiaobing, SVP of ZTE, attended the signing ceremony and signed the MoU in presence of Mr. Anupam Shrivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL and ZTE India CEO Peng Aiguang.

With 4G becoming more mature in India, and penetration of smart phones and bandwidth surging, operators are stepping up to 5G trial in an attempt to build an IoT and artificial intelligence (AI) centric 5G ecosystem by deploying 5G technology. Department of Telecom(DoT) and operators believe that 5G will accelerate digital transformation of E-governance, education, finance, smart city and other many other industries, to realize IoT and comprehensive automation. SNL and ZTE agreed to jointly evaluate and verify key technologies such as Pre5G, 5G wireless systems, virtualized network architectures, as well as the construction of 5G ecosystems, for the purpose of research and commercialization in India.

“As one of the global leading integrated communications solutions providers, ZTE takes 5G as its core strategy, expecting to become the pioneer in 5G fields,” said Mr. Fan Xiaobing from ZTE. “ZTE is willing to closely collaborate with the industry for better 5G experience.”
