“We are currently stopping some 300,000 malicious web sites, 250,000 intrusion attempts, and 100,000 pieces of Malware per minute across the global FortiGate network,” Rajesh Maurya, Country Manager, India and SAARC at Fortinet.

According to the most recent IDC Worldwide Quarterly Security Appliance Tracker, Q414, released in March 2015, Fortinet’s security appliance shipments and worldwide revenue continued to grow in the fourth quarter of 2014.

“Fortinet remains the largest security appliance vendor in terms of shipments globally with 18.8% share of total unit shipments in 4Q14. The Appliances are being deployed by large enterprises as NGFW’s, Data Center Firewall’s, Internal Network Firewall’s and Carrier Class Network Firewall’s,” a release said.

The Infonetics Research Data Center Security Products report, published in December 2014, also highlights Fortinet’s footprint across the enterprise. Revenue for data center security appliances was up 5% in 2Q14, and is expected to continue to rise as the need for massive performance increases in connection rate and concurrent connections for key web/data center protocols (like TCP) proliferates.

The Infonetics report reflects that market share for security appliances in the data center closely mirrors overall market share for security solutions, with Fortinet in the second position behind Cisco and gaining on Cisco.

“Data centers have distinct security and performance requirements compared to traditional enterprise perimeter firewalls,” said Jeff Wilson, Principal Analyst at Infonetics Research, now part of IHS Inc. “Fortinet is exploiting its unique offering to continue to penetrate the data center market.”

“Fortinet technology leverages visibility into threats through its deployed devices to prevent threats for all of its customers, a one-to-many prevention model. Having one of the largest number of Network Security devices deployed creates a huge sensor network which can be partially shown in the Fortinet Threat Map,” said Maurya.
