Vodafone Idea has announced a self-KYC (know your customer) procedure for subscribers to obtain a new SIM cards. In the past, customers had to finish the KYC at their closest retail location in order to obtain a new SIM. Nevertheless, it would no longer be required.

According to Department of Telecommunications (DoT) regulations, Vi has made it possible for consumers to receive a new Vi connection whenever they want, from wherever they are, with the added benefit of SIM card delivery to their doorstep.

To ensure genuine purchases, the KYC process must be completed by both the client and the carrier. Self-KYC would enable users to complete the process for buying a new connection while sitting at home in the following manner;

Visit Vi's official website, choose a preferred pack, and complete self-KYC that follows in order to obtain a new connection. Following that, select a number and proceed to order. The self-KYC process involves Aadhaar authentication on the UIDAI website, you will be required to carry out a few easy procedures. The user would next need to record live images and videos for no less than 10 seconds. After successful OTP authentication, the customer will receive a SIM card at their doorstep after order is done and digital verification is finished.

Notably, the service has not yet been made available to the entire country. The service has only recently started to be offered by Vi in Karnataka and Kolkata. Both Prepaid and postpaid users will progressively be able to access the service across the entirety of India.
