In certain of its important circles in 2022, Vodafone Idea (Vi), one of the top telecom provider in India, saw a decline in wireless subscriber market share. According to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)'s data, the operator lost users in 17 out of 22 circles in January 2023.

For the past year, Vi has been losing members in these areas. The biggest blow to the telco has been the loss in active wireless subscribers, who directly support the carrier's profits, and the overall user base has also dropped fairly dramatically.

While Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are vying for a larger subscriber base, it is claimed that Vodafone Idea has been losing market share primarily because of weak capital expenditure, particularly on the network, delayed launch of 5G services, the migration of lower-end subscribers to other networks, and gainful offers by competing operators in various segments also plays a huge role in contributing to this.
