Ookla reported that GIGAnet, the 4G network of Vodafone Idea, has delivered the fastest download and upload speeds across India.
This is the third consecutive quarter (January-March 2021) in which they have edged out Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.
Consistent Highest Speeds by Vodafone Idea
Ookla noted that GIGAnet from Vi was the fastest network in 16 Indian states namely. These were Maharashtra, UP, Gujarat, WB, Delhi, Kerala, MP, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, and Nagaland. Furthermore, Vodafone Idea has the fastest average 4G download speeds in 135 Indian cities including all four metros.
This comes at a time when data usage has surged exponentially. More and more people are staying at home amid a devastating second wave of COVID-19.
On the occasion, Ravinder Takkar, MD & CEO, Vodafone Idea Limited said, “it gives me immense satisfaction to see Vi being consistently rated as the fastest 4G network for the most part of the year 2020-21 when people and businesses were wholly dependent on telecom connectivity”.
Takkar also added that the telco improved network capacities to ensure “best network experience” to customers.
The telco reported a subscriber base of 269.8 million in the December-end quarter. Of these, 109.7 million customers are 4G subscribers, placing it in third spot behind Jio and Airtel.
It had posted an average revenue per user (ARPU) of Rs 121 for the same quarter, placing it ahead of Jio but behind Airtel.
