Vodafone Idea Brings Voice and Data Benefits for Low-Income Users

On Tuesday, Vodafone Idea (Vi) announced ₹75 worth of voice and data benefits to its low-income users, including 50 Vi to Vi minutes and 50 MB data.

On Tuesday, Vodafone Idea (Vi) announced ₹75 worth of voice and data benefits to its low-income users, who are resuming their work-life following the lockdown.

Vodafone Idea Supporting its Low-Income Users

In a statement, the telco said, "with the commencement of gradual state wise unlocking efforts, India’s migrant working populations have started returning from their home towns to their work locations. During the lockdown period, a segment of prepaid telecom users were unable to recharge due to several reasons".

Vi said that it will give 50 Vi to Vi minutes, along with 50MB of data. This plan also had a validity of of 15 days. The telco added that customers can recharge with their preferred recharge packs after the validity expires.

Other telcos have already launched similar initiatives to support their economically weaker users.

Reliance Jio launched two special initiatives targeted at its JioPhone users. First, it gave 300 minutes/month during the pandemic to JioPhone users who were not able to recharge. Second, for every JioPhone recharged, the users get one more recharge plan of the same value for free.

Bharti Airtel on its part had also rolled out recharge and talktime offerings for 55 million "low income" customers. The telco had said, "Airtel prepaid customers buying the ₹79 Recharge Coupon will now get double the benefit. This will make it easier for them to stay connected at a difficult time".
