- Vi offering high speed, free internet for prepaid users from 12 AM to 6 AM.
- This will be available for everyone who is using a pack of value of Rs. 249 or more.
- Vi also offering weekend rollover data benefits.
Vi has brought out a stellar offer in form of free, high-speed data for all the night owls among us in their latest press release. Users who are on a recharge plan of Rs. 249 or above can benefit from the free data overnight, from 12 midnight to 6 in the morning. Not only that, the telecom giant is also rolling out weekend data rollover plan for their prepaid users. This is the first time a telecom is giving this service to their prepaid users.
In a press release, Vi said, “With mobile internet becoming the oxygen for people in the pandemic disrupted world, bonus unlimited high-speed night-time data will enable Vi customers to get a lot more out of life and their time. Vi prepaid customers can now unwind after a long day with unlimited infotainment, connect with loved ones over long video calls or schedule downloads without worrying about exhausting their daily data quota”. One key takeaway from this is that the telecom is targeting audience who stream content over mobile data.
Any Vi subscriber who has a plan of over Rs. 249 can avail the benefits of this. The intent is clear here; Vi are looking at the growing OTT consumption in the country. India still does not have a lot of broadband users and most of the consumption is still done over mobile data. A plan which can give overnight free data is very lucrative for a lot of people, particularly youngsters who binge watch shows. One can just schedule their favorite show to download overnight, while not having to worry about their data getting exhausted for the day.
In addition to this, Vodafone Idea also announced their weekend rollover for all prepaid data plans over Rs. 249. In short, it means that your data will be rolling over to the next week if you have any left. This is the first time any teleco has offered prepaid data rollover. Airtel, Reliance Jio and the rest of the pack still giving this service exclusively to their postpaid users.
This is a bid to acquire new customers and hold on to the existing ones. Vi still lags behind Reliance Jio and Airtel in terms of both customer acquisition and retention, taking up the third spot with 289.95 million subscribers in the country.
