Telefonica joins hands with Routesms as global direct connect partner

NEW DELHI: Mumbai-based Routesms Solutions said that it has joined hands with Spanish telecom giant Telefonica as Global Direct Connect Partner (GDCP).

Under the agreement, Routesms now has 117 mobile network operator (MNO) GDCPs globally. The company aims to get 180 MNOs onboard by 2017.

This agreement gives Routesms instant access to close to 300 million mobile subscribers globally. Telefonica is present is 21 countries including Spain, Europe and Latin America.

It also offers better delivery percentages, stronger control over the systems and ability to handle significant traffic handling capacity. Routesms expects an increase of 5% in the messaging traffic to its existing estimated international volume of over 900 million sms.

The global A2P (application to peer - SMS sent through software by businesses) industry is growing at 25-30% annually and is expected to be USD 70 billion by 2020. The Global Direct Connect Partner program is critical to ensure the best delivery in the business.
