Telecom Commission member Peeyush Agrawal dies of cardiac arres

NEW DELHI: Telecom Commission member (technology) Peeyush Agrawal had died last week due to cardiac arrest. He belongs to 1977 batch of Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS).

Agrawal was graduate from IIT Roorkee and MBA with a gold medal in Marketing Management.

He has extensive experience of 34 years in telecom in India and abroad and has worked in various capacities in Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL(, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), and Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) for operation and maintenance of Mumbai telecom network and services and also Business Development Activities.

Prior to taking over as Executive Director (MTNL, Mumbai), Agrawal has been working as CGM of Landline Services and Wireless Services.

He was Project Manager for 4 years at Saudi Arabia for Telecom projects and has also worked as GM, BSNL at Udaipur and has rolled out mobile services there and worked extensively for improvement in rural networks.

Agrawal was also the Project Head for the first Broadband in the country, first IPTV in the country and also for the first 3G network in India, managing the responsibility with commendable precision and perfection.

He was also Chief Operating Officer of Millennium Telecom Ltd., which gave exposure for submarine cable and international consortiums.
