Snapdeal hires Chandrasekaran as Chief Product Officer

NEW DELHI: India’s online marketplace Snapdeal has hired Anand Chandrasekaran as its new Chief Product Officer.

Chandrasekaran most recently served as Chief Product Officer at Bharti Airtel, where he was responsible for product conceptualization, design and delivery as well as driving strategic technology partnerships, driving product strategy and roadmap for Wynk Music, Airtel Money, API products etc.

Rohit Bansal, Co-Founder, Snapdeal said, “Snapdeal is in a phase of hyper growth and I believe under Chandrasekaran we will set new benchmarks for intuitive and highly engaging products not just within India but globally as well.”

Previously, Chandrasekaran was with Yahoo, where he held roles of Sr Director of Search Products and member of search leadership as well as Sr Director for Mobile.

He led the mobile product and engineering teams to build next generation mobile experiences, product growth, monetization, content discovery and personalisation for products like Mobile Search, Y! TimeTraveler and Yahoo! Answers.

Prior to Yahoo, Chandrasekaran was Director of Product at Openwave driving product management for the mobile mediation gateway which touched 200Mn subscribers (through 70 operators) and generated USD 150Mn in revenue. Earlier, he co-founded Aeroprise Inc, under his leadership Aeroprise became the most-deployed solution worldwide for mobile service management.

In 2010, he was named by World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader, a community of outstanding leaders committed to impacting the future.

Chandrasekaran holds a MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Communications Engineering from PSG College of Technology.
