Sanjay Nayar quits Bharti Infratel's board

NEW DELHI: Sanjay Nayar, non-executive director, Bharti Infratel, the tower business unit of Bharti Airtel's tower business unit, has resigned from the company's Board.

"Mr Sanjay Nayar, a Non-executive Director, on account of other preoccupations, has resigned from the Board of Directors with effect from March 13, 2015," Bharti Infratel said in a statement.

Bharti Infratel has over 35,000 telecom towers used as signal emitting points for the operator's network and owns 42 per cent in Indus Tower, a telecom tower joint venture between Vodafone and Idea Cellular.

Nayar is the Chief Executive Officer at KKR India. He joined KKR in 2009 and is also a member of the Asia Portfolio Management Committee.

He is on the board of KKR's portfolio companies Alliance Tire Group, Magma Financial Services, Dalmia Bharti

Cement, and Coffee Day Holdings, and has had significant involvement with KKR's investment in Apollo Hospitals and Avantha.
