Samsung expands A-series portfolio; launches A7 at Rs 30,400

NEW DELHI: South Korean handset maker Samsung has launched Galaxy A7, its premium mid-range offering in India, at Rs 30,499.

Galaxy A7 will compete with the likes of Moto X (Gen 2), HTC One E8, Desire 820, Asus Zenfone 6, older Sony Xperia Z Ultra and others.

At present, Chinese brands such as Micromax YU Yureka, Xiaomi Mi4, Redmi Note 4G are seeing an increased uptake in the India market.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920p) Super AMOLED display and features a metal frame. It measures 6.3mm in thickness.

Powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 oct-core processor and 2GB RAM, the smartphone comes with 16GB internal storage expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. Backed by a 2600 mAh battery, Galaxy A7 runs Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung's TouchWiz UI skin on top.

It sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera. In terms of connectivity, the dual-sim smartphone supports 3G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, NFC and GPS.
