New Update
Citing stiff competition and the lowering of tariff as the reason, BSNL says it is facing a funds crisis for the last few months. However,  the Government of India is actively preparing a revival plan

In August, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) had launched a number of basic prepaid plans in India. Out of these, the Rs 29 plan and the Rs.9 plan stood out from the rest. The prepaid plan priced at Rs. 29 offered 2GB of daily data, along with 100 text messages and unlimited voice calls, for a period of seven days. Now, the same plan has been revised by the state-owned telecom operator, making it more profitable.

The newly revised Rs 29 prepaid plan by BSNL now offers 1GB of 3G data per day, 300 SMS per day and unlimited calls (except in Delhi and Mumbai circles). The plan still has the validity of seven days.

Along with this plan, the state-owned telco has also launched another prepaid plan at just Rs.9 which comes with a 100MB of data per day, 100 text messages and unlimited voice calls for one day. BSNL has launched these plans under the tag of ‘Chota Packs’.
