Government Initiative for Reliance Jio

Sidharth Nath Singh, MSME Minister, UP, said that there are provisions to accommodate the data center. Firstly, a 20-acre plot of land has been made available. Secondly, these data centers use massive amounts of power. The UP Government is preparing for the requirement of nearly 200 megawatts of power.

The UP Government is also expecting benefits for the population as they are expecting "thousands of opportunities in the IT Sector". The campus will include interconnected buildings with a capacity to offer 30,000 racks. This will be one of the largest projects of its kind in the region and will likely generate a lot of jobs.

These developments come in line with the call to boost India's Digital Economy to $1 Trillion by 2025. Furthermore, RBI has norms in place for data centers so this move is also in compliance with that.

Reliance Jio is yet to say anything regarding the said move.

Other notable projects in the related field are by the Adani group. They have formed a 50:50 alliance with EdgeConneX to create data centers across the country.

The Government is also working out a policy for local data centers. The policy might include various lucrative positives such as incentives and long term credit.
