Reliance Jio bring JioPhone Offers

In a press release on Friday, Reliance Jio announced stunning offers for their 4G feature phone. The offers, worth Rs. 1,499 and 1,999 offers the customers unlimited voice and data for 1 and 2 years, respectively. In addition to that, Reliance Jio will also be offering the new customers a new JioPhone to the boot, making the deal all the more sweeter. There is also a new offer for existing JioPhone users, getting them all but the new phone for a year at just Rs. 749.

Details of the JioPhone Offers

Reliance Jio stated in the press release that over 300 million Indian telecom subscribers were still on 2G. Not only that, the teleco also stated that these customers had to pay pre-4G era prices as well. The standard charges include a call tarrif of up to Rs. 1.5 per minute of voice and up to Rs. 50 for monthly validity.

The 1999 offer from the Mukesh Ambani-led teleco features:

There is also an offer for existing feature phone users which brings all the features of the 1499 offer sans the phone at half the price. That is, for just Rs. 749, a JioPhone user will get unlimited voice and data for a year.

Interestingly, the statement mentioned that customers paid as much as Rs. 5,000 for the same benefits on other networks.

Mukesh Ambani, Director at Reliance Jio Infocomm, stated, "There are still 300 million subscribers in India who remain ‘trapped’ in the 2G era, unable to access basic features of the internet, at a time, when the world stands at the cusp of a 5G revolution". Commenting on the time since 4G was first introduced in India by the teleco, Ambani noted that they had "democratized internet" and look to bridge the "digital divide".
