PM Modi's clarion call for industry and investors: Invest in infrastructure development

His push for connecting over six lakhs villages with optical fibre within 1000 days will boost employment generation and open up new opportunities.

TEMA welcomed the bold initiatives announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in the 74th Independence Day speech from the ramparts of Red Fort. This will take a step closer to a Digital India, connecting every individual. India, in the last seven decades, has achieved tremendous success in agriculture, industry, manufacturing, education, health and importantly in infrastructure and many other areas.

PM's vision to build a National Infrastructure Pipeline Project will play an essential role in this endeavor. He announced Rs 110 lakh crore would be spent on this project. For this, about 7,000 projects have been identified in different sectors. His push for connecting over six lakhs villages with optical fibre within 1,000 days will boost employment generation and open up new opportunities.

"TEMA views the announcements as a signal from PM for the industry to enhance its participation in the development of National Infrastructure. Further, we feel there is an enormous opportunity. Even if 10%of this spending is focused on telecom, it amounts to Rs. 11 lakh crores investment, which can be generated domestically," says Prof. NK Goyal, Chairman Emeritus, TEMA. He added that TEMA is already committed to PM's call to become 'Atmanirbhar,' and 'Vocal for local.'

Ravi Sharma, Chairman TEMA, said: “A clear vision and a target have been set by the PM. As an industry, we are bullish about thrust given to promoting domestic industry to make India' Atmanirbhar.' We have only scratched the surface of the potential in developing infrastructure. Support in terms of reduced levies to the local manufacturers and special provisions to up skill the talent that has come back to the country during Covid-19 should be taken up on priority."

Sandeep Aggarwal, Vice Chairman, TEMA, said: “Tremendous positivity has been brought in by the PM in his Independence Day speech. We feel bullish about the opportunities, linking ‘Atmanirbhar’ with building national infrastructure will bring about in the days to come.”
