The 6G Test Bed that is anticipated to be inaugurated will offer industry, start-ups, acedemic institutions, MSMEs, among others, a platform to test and validate the emerging ICT. The Bharat 6G vision document is said to be essential in encouraging India to adopt the new technology more quickly.

Arvind Bali, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council said: “The idea of a seamless integration of the digital and physical worlds through 6G technology is truly exciting and holds tremendous potential for the future. 6G holds the possibility to provide extreme speeds with predictably low latency and a low jitter rate for high demanding scenarios and about 10Cr active 6G devices by 2030.

The launch of the 6G Test Bed by the Prime Minister is a significant step towards realizing the Bharat 6G Vision and placing India at the forefront of innovation in the field. By providing a platform for academic research, industry, and startups, the 6G Test Bed can pave the way for the development of skilled and innovative workforce. It will be interesting to see how this initiative progresses and contributes to the advancement of the 6G ecosystem.”

It is important to remember that the commercial launch of 6G is still years away. The deployment of 6G is anticipated to occur only after 2028-29 as all the telecom operators over the world are at the moment attempting to bring to effect 5G technology.

The 5G deployment in India began in October, 2022 and the telecom providers are doing everything they can to make sure it is a success. Both Jio and Airtel have begun rolling out 5G services in various cities of every state and are seeking to have nationwide 5G coverage in the following year. Bharat 6G Vision Document is being seen as a platform for India that would provide a wonderful opportunity to work on 6G technology and take the lead globally as claimed several times by the PM and the telecom Minister.
