The Bharti-backed satcom company had announced the acquisition in May 2021. The current announcement follows after OneWeb managed to receive all the required regulatory approvals. The LEO company said that this has allowed them to close the transaction, in a press statement.

The statement said, "following consummation of this transaction, TrustComm will become known as OneWeb Technologies Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of OneWeb".

It further added, "under the terms of a Proxy Agreement with the United States Government, OneWeb Technologies will be tasked with providing governments of the “Five Eyes” alliance (U.S., U.K. Canada, Australia, and New Zealand); NATO; the U.N. and other strategic partners with global, next-generation, satellite connectivity”.

Bob Roe, former CEO, TrustComm, will lead the new subsidiary. He said, "by joining OneWeb, OneWeb Technologies is positioned to serve clients, existing and new, who are seeking faster network speeds, lower latency, more compact multi-orbit user terminals and built-in network management tools with security at all levels of the architecture".

At the same time, Neil Masterson, CEO OneWeb, said, "closing this deal represents an incredible opportunity for OneWeb to take the security first, high-performance, low-latency service we will deliver to the enterprise and make it available to meet government users’ needs".

OneWeb has been on track to deliver global coverage by the end of 2022, per its target. Moreover, the satcom player has entered the Indian market with Hughes, signing a partnership to deliver LEO services in India. Apart from Hughes, it also has deals with AT&T, Northwestel, BT, among others.
