The phone, which is available exclusively on online marketplace Flipkart, is now available at Rs 5,999, Rs 1,000 less than its original price of Rs 6,999.

The dual-sim phone sports a 4.3-inch display with 960x540p resolution and runs on Android 4.4.

Motorola India is also inviting members of the Motorola Feedback Network for the Android 5.0 soak test for Moto E, making India the testing ground for the software upgrade for the smartphone. If the soak test goes well, Motorola will release the software update to Moto E as an over-the-air (OTA) update in a few weeks.

Moto E packs a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage. The phone also supports microSD cards for storage expansion. It sports a 5MP camera on the back and the device can access the internet over 2G, 3G and Wi-Fi networks, while data can be transferred via microUSB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0. The smartphone has a 1,980mAh battery.
