BENGALURU: MoneyOnMobile, a leading provider of financial-services-via-mobile-phone, and Enfold, a leading provider of white-label digital lockers worldwide, have signed an agreement to provide digital lockers for MoneyOnMobile’s 170 million customer base in India. The digital locker service will be hosted on Microsoft’s Azure from data centers located in India.

The press release indicates that the agreement covers more than 12% of India’s population, and is by far the largest deployment of digital lockers in the world. It provides a very large number of people the ability to securely store their important personal documents – Aadhaar card, PAN card, various certificates, photos, videos – or any digital file they want – including transaction receipts each time they use the MoneyOnMobile service. Documents can also be added to the lockers via email, fax, upload and via photos taken by smartphone cameras.

MoneyOnMobile says it currently processes over $ 1 billion through its systems on an annual basis, delivering services directly and through its channel partners and retail outlets across the country. Enfold’s agreement with MoneyOnMobile illustrates the value that Microsoft Cloud is bringing to the Indian market. By adopting Azure as their technology platform Enfold has gained the ability to scale to hundreds of millions of users as their business grows.
