Misfit partners Snapdeal, announces India wearables launch

BENGALURU: Christy Trang Lee, the CFO and COO of the “wearables startup”, Misfit, a company that made news last November when it partnered with the premium brand Victoria’s Secret with an exclusive edition of their fitness tracker – the Pink Misfit Shine, today made news again at the Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) 2015 at Bengaluru, in India.

This time for the announcement that their Misfit range of fitness trackers will be available in India market, exclusively on Snapdeal and at affordable price points.

The most affordable one is called the Misfit Flash Link and is priced at Rs 1,999. It is an easy to use activity tracker in the form of a smart button with a clip that offers users innovative ways to connect with the world around them. Enabled with Bluetooth, with this basic fitness tracker one can also double tap on the button and take a selfie with the smartphone camera app, control the music or advance the slides of a presentation

“Mainstreaming of wearable devices is key in giving this market a push,” said Lee, in her talk that elaborated on the Misfit range of products explaining how important it is to ensure that these devices blend in subtly and beautifully in their environment for better, faster adoption and what Misfit is doing to speed it up. “India is one of the fastest growing markets for consumer technology worldwide and is a hotspot of new tech and trends. We are excited to share our products with this growing, enthusiastic, and tech-savvy audience,” she said.

The other two launches for India market are Misfit Flash, and Misfit Shine.

Misfit Flash also is a fitness tracker that is wearable anywhere and automatically measures steps, calories, distance, and light and deep sleep but is crafted out of a special soft-touch plastic and comes in a variety of bright color options. Users press on Flash’s face to view progress or to enable one of Flash’s smart button features, like messaging friends or starting a playlist.  Flash is wearable anywhere with a sport band or clasp and is available for Rs 2,499.

Misfit Shine too is exactly the same functionality, in a metal casing. The users can double tap the face of Shine’s sleek metal body to see progress toward their daily activity goal, and sync with the Misfit app to see more data and connect with friends. It is priced at Rs 5,499 and is compatible with a variety of stylish accessories including a luxe leather band and a polished necklace, Bloom.

The products require no charging, are water resistant, and are compatible with free companion apps on iOS and Android. The company has partnered with  Bengaluru-based  Brilyant Distribution for the India market and the range is slated to be available on Snapdeal from September 11, 2015.
