MAIT appoints its first ever woman President, Debjani Ghosh

NEW DELHI: MAIT, the apex body representing India’s IT hardware, training and R&D service sectors, has appointed its first ever woman President, Debjani Ghosh.

Ghosh, who is the Vice-President Sales and Marketing Group, Managing Director South Asia, Intel Corporation, will replace Amar Babu.

Ghosh has been with Intel for over 19 years. She has managed a variety of roles, including setting up Intel’s education program for the Asia Pacific region. Before assuming her current role at Intel she was the Managing Director for the Southeast Asia region. In 2013, Ghosh was ranked amongst the 25 most powerful women in Fortune India.

Amar Babu, outgoing President of MAIT said, “It's great to have Debjani Ghosh as the next President of MAIT. I have worked extensively with Debjani and have the utmost respect for her experience and accomplishments. She has demonstrated her ability to drive innovation and growth and deliver results, and it goes without saying that she will infuse new energy to the MAIT agenda.”

Debjani Ghosh while taking charge as the new President said, “It is a privilege for me to assume office as President of MAIT at this exciting time in India’s history. Digital India is not the government’s job alone and the industry must contribute towards its successful realization. MAIT is in a unique position to drive collaboration in the areas of electronic manufacturing, home-grown R&D as well as ‘Design in India’ in order to fulfill the ‘Make in India’ dream and realize the Digital India vision. I look forward to driving key agendas for MAIT that will strengthen its unique position as the apex IT hardware body in India.”
