Reliance Jio has just announced that JioPhone Next, touted as the cheapest 4G smartphone ever, will be available to buy from Diwali onwards.

Get Your JioPhone Next from Diwali Onwards

JioPhone Next will come with Google’s Camera Go and Duo Go app. On the camera side, the device comes with an 8MP front camera and a 13MP OmniVision OV13B10 rear sensor. Moreover, the device will have the model name LS-5701-J and will come with 2GB RAM along with the custom Pragati OS.

Other features that the device will have the Google Assistant, AR filters, read-aloud, translation and so on. JioPhone Next will also support all the apps from both Google and Jio, as well as Android Play Store. That means that the users have the access to the entire library of apps on the app store.

In a press release, Jio said that customers who wish to buy the new phone can do so by registering at the nearest JioMart or through www.jio.com/next

Customer can either buy the phone upfront for Rs. 6,499 or in EMIs for 18/24 months, which will also recharge the Jio-SIM powered phone.

On the ocassion, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio, said, "I am delighted that Google and Jio teams have succeeded in bringing this breakthrough device to Indian consumers in time for the festival season, inspite of the current global supply chain challenges caused by the Covid pandemic".

He added, "I have always been a firm believer in the power of the Digital Revolution to enrich, enable and empower the lives of 1.35 billion Indians. We have done it in the past with connectivity. Now we are enabling it again with a smartphone device".

To cater to a significant 2G user base, the telco had announced the phone back during the AGM in June. Reliance Jio will aim to capture over 300 million feature phone users, who are still on 2G. Moreover, the telco also has about half a billion first-time phone users in mind as well. Reliance Jio already has two 4G feature phones called the JioPhone and JioPhone 2. Incidentally, the telco has shifted more than 100 million of those devices.
