On Tuesday, TIME released its 100 Most Influential Companies list, and Jio Platforms features on that list along with Byju's as India's representatives.

TIME released its 100 Most Influential Companies for 2021 on Tuesday. Among 100 companies from around the world, Jio Platforms was the only other company to feature from India, along with Byju's.

International Recognition for Jio Platforms

Jio Platforms features in the "Innovators" category. Notably, this segment features companies such as Nintendo, Netflix, The Lego Company and so on.

Amy Gunia did the piece for Jio Platforms for TIME. The piece covers the basics of what the telco has done over the past few years.

Most importantly, the Mumbai-based conglomerate, has built India’s largest 4G network by charging some of the lowest data rates in the world (less than 5¢ a month for 1 GB).

The article also mentioned how leading investors turned to Jio Platforms. Gunia mentioned that the investments have propelled Jio to reach its more than 410 million subscribers.

She also listed the investors; Facebook and Google. Notably, Facebook will develop a WhatsApp-based e-commerce platform with Jio. Also, Google is partnering Reliance Jio to roll out low-cost 5G smartphones.

Gunia also mentioned Jio's capital raising exercises during the last year. Incidentally, Jio raised over $20 billion in capital. She mentioned that as "a testament to the value and potential of its rapidly growing user base".

As of now, Reliance Jio is India's largest telecom operator, with a 35% market share and over 410 million subscribers.
