The biggest telecom provider in India, Reliance Jio, may shortly reveal two new 5G-capable phones. The telco has frequently stated that it wants to see 2G-Mukt in India. Jio also recently made the JioBharat Phone platform available for users who want to upgrade to a 4G feature phone but have a very tight budget.

When Reliance Jio launched JioBharat Phone at Rs 999 earlier this year, it stated, “India still has 250 million mobile subscribers trapped in the 2G era with feature phones. These feature phones do not provide access to internet.”

However, there are currently rumours of two new Reliance Jio phones. Jio may soon release new 5G phones as the operator appears to be close to finishing its 5G deployment. 6258 towns and cities have received 5G service from Reliance Jio so yet.

The supposed development was covered by 91Mobiles. According to the report, two brand-new Reliance Jio phones have been discovered on the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) platform. This indicates that they will launch soon. Reliance's Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been scheduled for the latter week of August 2023, the launch of these Jio 5G phones could thus be announced by the firm.

However, because the business hasn't yet verified anything, it'll only be right to say that at its AGM, Reliance Industries has previously made significant announcements. This time around, we might also hear something significant about 5G.

Through the “2G-Mukt Bharat” project, Reliance Jio seeks to update feature phones to the new Jio Bharat OS platform in order to provide a better user experience, including internet connectivity and the ability to make digital payments.

For the purpose of selling phones running the Jio Bharat OS, Reliance Jio is also reportedly collaborating with domestic companies like Karbonn.
