India telecoms gross revenue up 4 per cent to Rs 64,996 crore in Q3: TRAI

NEW DELHI: Telecom watchdog Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said that Indian telecom operators’ gross revenue rose 4.08 per cent year on year in the September quarter of 2015 to Rs 64,996 crore.

The regulator said that gross revenue of Indian telecoms fell 0.05 percent on quarterly basis.

The average gross revenue of telecom operators grew 7 per cent year on year and fell 1.86 percent quarter on quarter to Rs 46,257 crore.

"Gross Revenue (GR) and Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) of Telecom Service Sector for the QE Sep-15 has been `64,996 Crore and `46,257 crore respectively. GR declined by 0.05%, and AGR declined by 1.86% in QE Sep-15 as compared to previous quarter," the regulator said in its offcilal statement.

"Access services contributed 81.90% of the total Adjusted Gross Revenue of telecom services. In Access services, Gross Revenue (GR), Adjusted Gross Revenue(AGR), License Fee and Spectrum Usage Charges(SUC) declined by 1.36%, 1.80%, 1.74% and 1.99% respectively whereas Pass Through Charges increased by 0.18% in QE September 2015," the official statement said.

"Monthly Average Revenue per User (ARPU) for Access Services based on AGR declined from `128.45 in QE Jun-15 to `124.68 in QE September 2015," it said.

The year-on-year (Y-O-Y) growth in GR and AGR over the same quarter in last year has been 4.08 per cent and 7.00 per cent respectively.

Lastly, TRAI today released the “Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicator Report” for the Quarter ending September, 2015. This Report provides a broad perspective of the Telecom Services and presents the key parameters and growth trends for the Telecom Services as well as Cable TV, DTH & Radio Broadcasting services in India for the period covering 1st July to 30th September, 2015 and is compiled on the basis of information furnished by the Service Providers.
