In its largest 5G roll-out to date, Airtel launches 5G in 235 cities

The greatest 5G roll-out to date has been announced by Bharti Airtel. Following one the largest 5G rollouts just announced by Airtel will offer 5G services in 235 new cities. The telco has enabled millions of users to use the ultra-fast 5G network through Airtel 5G Plus in various Indian locations.

Airtel 5G Plus was first launched in the country in October, 2022 at IMC when PM Modi officially introduced 5G in India. The latest launch of Airtel’s 5G services was in Kolkata, West Bengal. In its earlier largest 5G roll-out Airtel launched 5G services in 125 Cities. With this addition that is the latest and largest 5G rollout makes Airtel 5G Plus available to customers in over 500 Cities in India.

Airtel is deploying its 5G on Non-standalone (NSA) infrastructure whereas Reliance Jio is deploying its network on Standalone(SA)5G network and has introduced its services in nearly 300 cities nationwide so far.

Bharti Airtel, the second largest telecom company in India, recently declared that the number of unique users on its 5G network has topped 10 million. Airtel acquired 1 million distinct 5G users on its network in November last year, making it the country’s singular operator to do so.

Airtel also took the initiative to make the new technology easier to understand for users and enable them to fully appreciate the benefits of 5G by setting up 5G experience zones in all of the 1000+ stores that will have specially trained executives who will not only demonstrate use cases but will also answer any concerns about 5G in addition to discussing Airtel’s own offers.

"Airtel was the first in the country to offer 5G services in October 2022, and today’s mega launch is our promise to connect every Airtel customer in the country with ultra-fast Airtel 5G Plus. Our 5G rollout is on track to cover all towns and key rural areas by March 2024.”

“Airtel is now offering its 5G services in every major city from the upper northern city of Jammu and Kashmir to the Southern tip of Kanyakumari,” Airtel added.

Airtel customers could access 5G Speeds on all existing Airtel data plans until recently. Airtel recently introduced a data plan for all its postpaid users which comes with unlimited 5G data where prepaid customers with a data plan of Rs 239 and above will have access to unlimited 5G Data.
