Ericsson Launches Ericsson Private 5G for Secure 4G and 5G Connectivity

Ericsson has launched Ericsson Private 5G. It offers secure and simple 4G LTE and 5G Standalone (SA) connectivity primarily targeting – but not limited to – manufacturing, mining and process industry, offshore and power utilities, as well as ports and airports.

The product brings cloud-based network management, which helps companies keep their data on-premise. Furthermore, Ericsson said that the product also has zero downtime upgrades.

Ericsson further added that the product's capacity is scalable. It basically means that users can increase its coverage area and device capacity as and when required. The company provides an open API to link their IT/OT systems with Ericsson Private 5G.

It uses Ericsson’s 4G/5G radio and dual mode core technology. This allows for a variety of use-cases, such as tracking assets and real-time automation in warehouses, and a digital twin that can help to optimize manufacturing operations.
