DataWind launches two new mobile phones-PS 2G4X, PS 3G4Z in India

Focusing on low cost smartphone markets in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, Canada-based provider of affordable mobile Internet connectivity, DataWind has launched its two new Pocket Surfer smartphones PS 2G4X and PS 3G4Z priced at Rs 2499 and Rs 3999 respectively.

NEW DELHI: Focusing on low cost smartphone markets in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, Canada-based provider of affordable mobile Internet connectivity, DataWind has launched its two new Pocket Surfer smartphones PS 2G4X and PS 3G4Z priced at Rs 2499 and Rs 3999 respectively.

Both the phones are successors of Pocket surfer phones 2G4 and 3G4 launched in March 2015.The phones will make a debut in the market through retail distribution outlets all over India.

The new range of smartphones come bundled with free unlimited internet browsing for one year on Reliance and Telenor connection on prepaid sim cards. The free-access to internet does not include audio/video streaming or local-downloads, which can alternatively be accessed by topping-up using market plans. Both the phones allow the consumers to join the digital age at no extra cost spend on internet plans.

“The PocketSurfer 2G4X is a 3.5 inch, Dual SIM, Dual camera, EDGE network compatiblesmartphone and the PocketSurfer 3G4Z is a 4 inch, Dual SIM, Dual camera, 3G network compatible smartphone. Both the phones make use of DataWind’s breakthrough web acceleration technology to deliver the fastest internet browsing experience through the UbiSurfer browser,” a statement said.

“The phones run on DataWind’s breakthrough web-delivery platform covered by 18 U.S. and international patents allowing the devices to deliver fast mobile web experience on regular GSM-EDGE based networks. This technology reduces bandwidth consumption by factors of 10x to 30x, allowing the delivery of web pages across even congested GPRS networks in 5 to 7 seconds (with even faster speeds on 3G and 4G networks),” the company said.
