NEW DELHI: In a step towards government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, Indian smartphone maker Celkon Mobile will launch its manufacturing facility in Telangana next week that will begin with four production lines and will eventually enhance its capacity to higher levels.
Minister of state for IT KT Rama Rao (KTR) is expected to inaugurate the unit soon.
“We are very pleased to be one of the first companies to unveil our plans in setting up the manufacturing unit, this unit will greatly boost our ability to meet the demand for our game changing products as well as contribute to the overall ‘Make in India’ revolution promoted by the government of India,” said Y Guru, Chairman and Managing Director, Celkon Mobiles.
Celkon was one of the early movers in envisioning a manufacturing unit in the country and has been actively pursuing the state and centre to bring about a supportive ecosystem that can enable handset manufacturing. These include promoting ancillary units, support infrastructure – capital subsidy, tax breaks/benefits and social infrastructure setup.
