BSNL Partners With NTT AT for Futuristic Technologies

Recently, state-owned telecom firm, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Japan- based NTT Advance Technology (AT) along with their Indian partner Virgo Corps have joined hands to collaborate in futuristic technologies such as 5G, AI, and IoT.

"BSNL and NTT AT Corporation (Telecom leader in Japan) along with their partners in India Virgo Corp have signed a MoU (memorandum of understanding) to collaborate in futuristic technologies such as artificial intelligence / IoT and jointly create a 5G test bed," BSNL said in a statement.

According to reports, the agreement is in line with the vision of the two countries to collaborate on the next generation technologies and use the expertise of India in software and Japanese expertise in manufacturing.

Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan, BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava along with board of directors; NTT AT President and CEO George Kimura, and Virgo Corp Chairman Monga were present during the signing of the pact.

Though the state-run operator has not launched a full fledged 4G services yet in the country, it has taken some strong strides in 5G activities.

During the last MWC, BSNL had signed agreement with Nokia to jointly develop solutions around 5G.

According to that agreement Nokia and BSNL will work together to accelerate the development of a 5G ecosystem, opening up India to the potential of extreme high-speed wireless broadband with ultra-low-latency, and the ability to support the future network demands of connected devices associated with the Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Cities.
