BSNL offering 4G services in a few regions on a limited basis

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) is a state-owned telecommunications company in India. BSNL has been providing 2G and 3G services in India, but it has not yet launched its 4G services on a large scale.

However, BSNL has been working on rolling out its 4G services for quite some time, and it has completed the testing phase in some parts of the country. BSNL has also acquired the necessary spectrum for launching its 4G services.

However, the lesser known fact remains that BSNL has soft-launched BSNL 4G Services in a few locations a few years back. BSNL is in the final stages of its 4G Tender for 1 Lakh towers across the country. In September 2021, BSNL had launched its 4G services in a few circles in India, and it is expected to roll out its 4G services in more circles in the coming months. It is worth noting that BSNL's 4G network is being deployed using the latest 4G technology, and it is expected to provide high-speed internet services to its customers.

To access BSNL 4G Services, customers must have a 4G SIM, the usual 3G BSNL SIM won't function for 4G. In case BSNL prepaid or postpaid users do not have a 4G-enabled sim, they are required to switch to a BSNL 4G SIM to access BSNL 4G services.

Minister of Railways, Communications, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw detailed the locations that offer BSNL 4G services on a limited basis in form of written response to question asked in Lok Sabha.
