Reports surfaced on Thursday that BSNL will discontinue its prepaid broadband service.
BSNL to Discontinue Prepaid Broadband
Per a report by Kerala Telecom, the PSU telco will stop the service across all the telecom sectors. Right now, the telco offers prepaid broadband service in the DSL only. Per the said report, the public telco directed all telecom circles to shift all DSL prepaid customers to postpaid.
The service offers unlimited high speed broadband. The now-defunct service includes mobility, control on internet fees, DSL broadband sharing and more. The plans also ranged from Rs. 200 to Rs. 3,000.
Per the aforementioned report, the state-run telco has a very small customer base. Therefore, BSNL has decided to shut the service down and migrate all users to postpaid service.
The telco will credit the existing prepaid account balance to the postpaid account. Furthermore, customers will also have a choice to opt for Bharat Fiber, or Bharat AirFiber connection. The two services run on FTTH technology, thereby delivering higher bandwidth to the customers.
BSNL's Special Offer for Migrating Connections to Bharat Fiber
The report added that the PSU telco has also brought a special discount scheme for existing landline customers to ensure smooth migration to FTTH. Moving landline customers can avail as much as Rs. 600 discount while migrating to Fiber/AirFiber. Moreover, the telco has allowed the customers to retain their existing landline number; customers will have to ask for the same landline number when submitting the application form.
