MUMBAI: BlackBerry India Head Sunil Lalvani has resigned from his post in order to pursue his other interest.
Matthew Tonkin, VP, Carrier Sales and Distribution, APAC, will head the operations in India as an interim measure.
“I can confirm Sunil Lalvani has left his position as Managing Director, BlackBerry India to explore opportunities outside of BlackBerry. We will announce a permanent replacement soon. India is an important market for BlackBerry and we are committed to our customers in this region who demand the most secure and productive mobile communications,” said Varghese M. Thomas, Director - Corporate Communications & Social Media - India & SAARC Region, BlackBerry India.
Lalvani took over as the head of the Canadian handset maker's India operations for over two years. Earlier, he was heading the enterprise business before taking charge of the entire operations.
BlackBerry was undergoing one of the toughest phases in the last two years when Lalvani did some transformational changes to align with its global strength in the enterprise space.
He had worked with networking and enterprise players like Cisco, Nokia, SITA-Equant, and Global Telesystems in India.
