Bharti Airtel Deploys 5 MHz Spectrum in 1.8 GHz Band in Tamil Nadu

Bharti Airtel announced that it has deployed an additional 5 MHz in Tamil Nadu in the 1800 MHz band to improve network in the state.

Bharti Airtel has deployed an additional 5 MHz spectrum in the 1800 MHz band bolster high speed data capacity.

Bharti Airtel Bolster Network Capacity in Tamil Nadu

The telco said that this move will bolster its network in the state. It will enable improved network availability and data speeds along with better coverage inside homes and buildings in cities and urban areas. Furthermore, the deployment also allows Airtel to offer wider coverage along highways, rail routes and villages.

During the auction in March, the telco acquired large blocks of 1800 and 900 MHz spectrum for Tamil Nadu. After this purchase, Bharti Airtel became the telco with the largest spectrum holdings with 65 MHz in the state.

The telco also claimed that its network is ready for 5G deployment in the state.

Amit Tripathi, CEO - Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel said, “the additional blocks of 1800 band spectrum and new technology upgrades will massively enhance our network capacity to serve the growing data requirement of customers.”

Bharti Airtel has also deployed network technologies and tools to bolster network coverage and capacity. These include tools such as pre-5G Massive MIMO, 4G Advanced and Carrier Aggregation.

The telco has over 2.7 crore customers in Tamil Nadu and its network covers 98.54% population of the state.
