Avaya launches Hackathon

NEW DELHI: Avaya has announced today the Avaya Hackathon, designed to inspire India’s developer community to build the next generation of communication-enabled applications that will help businesses meet the challenges of the Digital Era.

The event comes at a time when organizations seek to evolve and deliver differentiated experiences to their digitally-savvy customers and workforces, however, IT departments struggle to keep pace. According to Gartner, Inc., by the end of 2017, market demand for mobile app development services is expected to grow five times faster than internal IT organizations can deliver them. With 89% of companies now competing primarily on customer experience, IT executives need to overcome the skills gap and deliver initiatives at customer speed.

Avaya Hackathon will give teams of developers and enthusiasts from universities, colleges and corporations across India the opportunity to create the breakthrough ideas that will support India’s digital objectives. Each team will select a theme from those offered, focusing their efforts on solutions that can elevate users’ experience using the Avaya Breeze development platform.

The Avaya Breeze development platform provides an entirely new way to develop business communications applications, profoundly simplifying application development, while delivering built-in capabilities for enhanced mobile, customer-facing and hybrid/cloud requirements. Using Avaya Breeze, developers can embed secure, mobile, multi-channel communications into workflows and other business applications.

The Avaya Hackathon allows each team to submit as many hacks as they like before their final hack is counted as their submission. Each team can include up to three participants. Teams will be awarded points based on generic criteria which will include Idea, Complexity, Creativity and Impact and usage of the Avaya communication features. The winning team will receive the first prize of Rs. 2,00,000 followed by second and third prize of Rs. 1,25,000 and Rs. 75,000 respectively.
