Apple is all set to introduce its Independent Repair Provider program in 200 countries, which also includes India and nearly every country where Apple products are sold. The program offers repair providers access to genuine parts, tools, repair manuals, and diagnostics for out-of-warranty repair. With this initiative, the company aims to empower local repair businesses, and instead of going to an Apple Authorized store, users can go to these small repair businesses for Apple-genuine parts.

Currently, there are over 1500 Independent Repair Providers in the US, Canada, and Europe.  The program was launched originally in 2019 and expanded to Europe and Canada, only last year.

How is the Apple Independent Repair Provider Program helpful for service providers and Apple users?

The Independent Repair Provider program gives access to small repair businesses for the same Apple-genuine parts, and resources as Apple authorized service providers. Thus, this will ensure that users do not need to go to Apple-authorized repair centers only. This program mainly focuses on common out-of-warranty problems like screen replacement and cracked backs on Apple products.

A service provider testimonials

“Being a part of the Independent Repair Provider program has been a huge benefit to my business, employees, and customers. Since joining, we’ve received great support from Apple, and we’re able to deliver that same level of service to our customers. It has even brought genuine excitement to our town,” said Scott Baker, owner of Mister Mac in Wimberley, Texas.

How to join the Apple Independent Repair Provider program?

All participating repair providers in the program have access to free training from Apple and the same genuine parts, tools, repair manuals, and diagnostics as Apple Authorized service provider and Apple store locations.

The Apple Independent Repair Provider program is free to join, but service providers need to qualify as quality technicians first. To qualify, repair providers need to commit to having an Apple-certified technician to perform the repairs.

Apple claims that the process for certification is simple and free of charge. Qualifying repair providers can purchase genuine Apple parts and tools at the same price as Apple Authorized Service Provider and receive free access to training, repair manuals, and diagnostics.

This is only an overview. Beginning later this week interested repair providers in India can learn more and apply to become an Independent Repair Provider.
