Ambani, Mittal, Colao and Birla to share stage at Indian Mobile Cong 2017

NEW DELHI: Reliance Jio Chairman Mukesh Ambani will share the stage with other telecom  tycoons Sunil Bharti Mittal of Airtel, Kumar Mangalam Birla of Idea Cellular and Vodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao at the India Mobile Congress (IMC ), according to COAI.

IMC 2017 the first ever global Mobile, Internet and Technology event in India will kick-off from 27th September 2017 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

The event is jointly organised by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and K AND D Communications Ltd. #IMC2017 will be a congregation to display, discuss, unveil, imbibe, educate and recognise the importance of the global and Indian telecommunications, mobile, internet, connectivity and digital services sector to the world.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajan S. Mathews, Director General, COAI stated, “We are excited and all geared-up for the launch of India Mobile Congress. #IMC2017 will be the marquee event of the country. We are sure that the deliberations will inform global policy and over the years, all stakeholders will look forward to this event for launches and releases of new technologies. Along with Google India and the British High Commission, the Government of India along with the Department of Telecommunication, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Skill Development and entrepreneurship are supporting this as an annual event.”

The event is truly multistakeholder and features a leadership summit, conclave, exhibition and awards. Officials and senior decision makers from both the Government as well as the industry will be present and tech companies will be displaying the best that this ecosystem has to offer, making this an enriching experience for both the consumer and the industry, he further added.

The event, will include a conclave, an exhibition and an awards ceremony, and will also see thematic pavilions and innovation zones, spread across 15,000 square meters, featuring 300 exhibitors from ICT, TMT as well as the Government sector, Embassies and States. The International event would attract more than 500 start-ups, 2,000 delegates from India and other countries making 1,50,000 footfalls.

The three day event will have 21 sessions which will have themes like “Digital India”, “Internet Governance”, “Smart Network: The future of networking”, “Digital Identity for Digital World”, “Women in Tech”, “Emerging Technologies in a 5G Future”, “Cloud & Virtualization”, “Digital Infrastructure towards the Digital Economy” and many others. The sessions will be followed by two startup pitches.

The special addresses at the event are expected to be delivered by the Minister Manoj Sinha, Minister, MOC, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Law & Justice and Electronics and Information Technology, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Defence, Aruna Sundarajan, Secretary, DoT, Shri Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary, MeitY.

COAI also announced Google India as the Title Sponsor of the India Mobile Congress 2017.

This event is supported by the Ministry of Communication (Department of Telecommunications), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Skill Development and Entrepreneurship amongst others.
