Airtel and Jio Prepaid Users Can Get Free Disney+Hotstar Subscription: Here's How

Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel claim almost two-thirds of the total mobile broadband users in the country. Needless to say, the two telcos dominate the Indian industry. And to maintain their dominance, both the telcos splash big on marketing and bundled offers. Given the recent surge in OTT content consumption, it's no surprise that Jio and Airtel have multiple plans that offer free Disney+Hotstar subscription to the customers.

The Recharge Plans

Airtel and Jio both had co-branding deals with the streaming service; under the same, users will get a free Disney+Hotstar subscription for a year on a select offering of plans.

These plans start from as low as Rs. 499, and go as high as Rs. 2798. Along with the subscription, the users will get the usual voice and data benefits, along with SMS benefits.

Jio Disney+Hotstar Plans

Reliance Jio has had this deal with the streaming service provider to give its users a free Disney+Hotstar subscription for a while now. As such, under the so-called "Cricket Plans", the largest telco has the following offerings:

1. Rs. 499 Plan: The plan offers a one year free Disney+Hotstar subscription. Also, this plan offers other recharge benefits such as 3 GB/day, along with an extra 6GB. Jio also offers a complimentary subscription to its apps. Reliance Jio also offers 28 days of validity, unlimited voice and 100 SMS/day in this plan.
2. Rs. 549 Plan: Oddly enough, this plan has been listed under the "Data Vouchers" section on the Jio website. The OTT benefits remain the same – 1 year of Disney+Hotstar. However, this plan reduces the daily limit to only 1.5 GB/day. What's more, the plan remains valid for 56 days, and does not give any voice and data benefits to the user.
3. Rs. 666 Plan: This plan is similar to the previous one in the OTT benefits, as it also offers 1 year of free Disney+Hotstar subscription. Apart from that, this plan gives the users usual data benefits; 2 GB/day for 56 days. Further, Reliance Jio offers a complimentary subscription to its Jio apps in the plan, too. This plan comes with unlimited voice and 100 SMS/day.
4. Rs. 888 Plan: Again, the OTT benefits remain the same – 1 year of Disney+Hotstar. Also, data benefits remain the same as well, at 2 GB/day. But the plan has a validity of 84 days, and also provides additional 5GB of data with it. Unlimited voice and 100 SMS/day also remain as per the previous plans, so does the complimentary Jio apps subscription.
5. Rs. 2,599 Plan: This is the most expensive plan that offers OTT benefits from Reliance Jio. The plan comes with the same OTT benefits as all the other plans. However, this particular plan lasts for 365 days and offers 2 GB/day with 10GB extra. Along with that, the plan comes with unlimited voice, 100 SMS/day and complimentary Jio apps subscription.

Jio has slowly upped the pricing of these plans over the past 4 months. The same plans, apart from the Rs. 2599 plan, have seen as much as a Rs. 111 hike over these months.

Airtel Disney+Hotstar Plan

Airtel had recently announced its partnership with Disney+Hotstar, launching three new plans with similar pricing and benefits that of Jio. However, along with the free Disney+Hotstar subscription, Airtel is offering Apollo 24/7 Circle 3 months membership and free courses from Shaw Academy. The plans are as follows:

1. Rs. 499 Plan: The plan offers a one year free Disney+Hotstar subscription, along with 3 GB/day data. Airtel users will also get 28 days of validity, unlimited voice and 100 SMS/day in this plan.
2. Rs. 699 Plan: This plan also offers 1 year of free Disney+Hotstar subscription. Apart from that, this plan gives 2 GB/day for 56 days, unlimited voice and 100 SMS/day.
3. Rs. 2,798 Plan: This is an yearly plan from Airtel. It offers the same OTT benefits as all the other plans. However, it has a validity of 365 days and offers 2 GB/day. Along with that, the plan comes with unlimited voice and 100 SMS/day.

On the face of it, both the companies have offered nearly identical plans, with nearly identical prices. It really is a subjective choice at this point; both the plans offer a great package.
