ABI Research says that Open RAN, powered by network virtualization, would help network operators and various industrial enterprise verticals enable network automation

NEW DELHI: A report by Twin Prime indicates the speed of leading network operators in India. Twin Prime’s Global Location based Acceleration Strategies (GLAS) Insights report  utilizes an automated hypothesis testing infrastructure to mitigate imperfections and variability in the wireless last mile by optimizing and customizing the content delivery strategy every time a mobile app is launched. Twin Prime solves for the inherent volatility and diversity among devices and networks so companies can increase user engagement and build brand affinity. These optimizations are content agnostic, don't rely on caching, compression or content modification, and enable Twin Prime customers to engage their users by delivering high quality content, even over secure protocols like HTTPS.

The key findings of the report are:

  • Irrespective of carrier, HSPA represented a 15% growth in download speed from 3G, and LTE a whopping 118% in the Indian market. But still the Indian market is in search to get significant penetration of LTE, where everyone benefits from this technology.
  • Tier I cities are not significantly advantaged over Tier II cities: Tier I cities such as Bengaluru and Mumbai does not have significant advantage over Tier II cities such as Jaipur and Pune, given their population density and the propensity for most businesses to invest in these top metros before going anywhere else.
  • India-based carriers invest at a proportionally representative amount in these cities which reflects Airtel as the fastest network by city in the Indian market. Airtel is the only carrier that appears statistically relevant LTE network.  Not only they are leading the LTE investment trend, but their 3G & HSPA technologies are also among the best performing networks in India. Only Vodafone India has HSPA & 3G speeds similar to Airtel, while AirCel & Reliance’s HSPA & 3G networks are 20-25% slower.
