Airtel introduces 5G Plus services in 15 cities of West Bengal

Airtel 5G Plus services are already live in Siliguri, taking the total count of Airtel 5G Plus cities in West Bengal to 16.

Telecommunications service provider, Bharti Airtel today launched its 5G services in 15 cities of West Bengal including Berhampore, Old Malda, Raiganj, Durgapur, Balurghat, Alipurduar, Dinhata, Asansol, Barrdhaman, Koch Bihar, Medinipur, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Islampur and Kharagpur, after the launch in Siliguri in October. Airtel 5G Plus services are already live in Siliguri, taking the total count of Airtel 5G Plus cities in West Bengal to 16. 

Commenting on the launch, Ayan Sarkar, CEO West Bengal, Bharti Airtel said: "I am thrilled to announce the launch of Airtel 5G Plus in Berhampore, Old Malda, Raiganj, Durgapur, Balurghat, Alipurduar, Dinhata, Asansol, Barrdhaman, Koch Bihar, Medinipur, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Islampur and Kharagpur in addition to Siliguri. Airtel customers in these sixteen cities can now experience ultrafast network and enjoy speeds up to 20–30 times faster than the current 4G speeds. We are in the process of lighting up all the cities which will allow customers to enjoy superfast access to High-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and more."

With this launch in West Bengal, the total count of cities Airtel 5G Plus is now available in, has reached 128. Existing data plans will work on 5G with a 5G-enabled device until roll-out is more widespread. No SIM change is needed as the existing Airtel 4G SIM is 5G enabled.

Airtel has been witnessing a continuous increase in wireless subscribers for over an year now. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently released the telecom subscription data for December, and Bharti Airtel recorded 15 Lakh Subscriber Addition in December, which was the highest in 9 Months.
