One of India's top telecommunications service provider, Bharti Airtel has raised the prepaid entry-level tariffs in the remaining three circles, Gujarat, Kolkata and Madhya Pradesh. With this hike, all 22 circles have now replaced the base plan of Rs 99 with Rs 155 being the base tariff.

Airtel earlier implemented the rate increases in 15 additional circles after testing them out in Haryana and Odisha circles. Only Gujarat, Kolkata and Madhya Pradesh were the only remaining 3 circles where Airtel had not increased the base price yet. This hike completes the tariff correction that started in 2022 in all the circles.

What came as a pleasant surprise for Bharti Airtel here is that its active user base saw an addition despite the tariff hike. Airtel increased the rates for its entry-level prepaid mobile recharge plan for Haryana and Odisha circles at the end of November last year. Add up in the number of active user base in December 2022 for these 2 circles was recorded at 0.1 million and 0.2 million respectively.
