Airtel 4G coverage reaches 200 towns in Kerala

NEW DELHI: India’s top telecom service provider Bharti Airtel said that it has launched its high speed 4G services in Chalakudy. Chalakudy is a municipal town situated on the banks of Chalakudy River in Thrissur District of the Kerala State in India.

With this, Airtel 4G is now available across 200 towns in the state.

Airtel customers in Chalakudy can now enjoy uninterrupted HD video streaming, superfast uploading and downloading of movies, music and images. Airtel 4G is available to customers across a wide range of smart devices including mobile phones, 4G hotspots and dongles.

George Mathen, Hub CEO – Kerala & Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel said, “We introduced Kerala to 4G with our launch in August 2015. Today, in less than a year we have expanded our 4G footprint to 200 towns in the State enabling customers to enjoy never before internet capabilities. We are delighted to enable our customers in Chalakudy to enjoy our 4G services starting today”.

To get started on Airtel 4G, customers can walk into their nearest Airtel Store and switch to a 4G SIM. Customers can also get the 4G SIMs home delivered by logging on to www.airtel.in/4g. With an instant SIM swap, customers can switch to a 4G SIM seamlessly and start enjoying 4G capabilities immediately.

Airtel has led the 4G story in India, having launched India’s first 4G network in Kolkata in April 2012. Airtel had announced in February 2016 that it has started deploying India’s first commercial LTE-Advanced (4G+) network in Kerala that can deliver mobile data speeds up to 135 Mbps.
