AIIMS Delhi campus to be supported by 5G by June 30

AIIMS, New Delhi has made the decision to outfit itself with a 5G network by June 30 in order to maximize the use of contemporary communication technologies for patient care, teaching, research, and good governance, according to officials.

A five-person team has reportedly been established to speed up the procedure, according to a memo from the director Professor M Srinivas.

AIIMS Director Prof M Srinivas said in an office memorandum that, robust 5G network will also help AIIMS, New Delhi adopt casualty and eICU solutions across its main outreach campuses, including NCI Jhajjar, allowing senior professors to offer their professional judgement at other times as well, including as during breaks from work or vacation periods.

Srinivas said,"In line with the current trends and to enable maximum utilization of modern communication technology for patient care, teaching, research, good governance, and optimal deployment of Integrated Medical University Information System (IMUIS), it is desirable that the entire AIIMS, New Delhi campus has good strength of 5G mobile network to enable robust mobile and data connectivity inside the buildings."

Officials from the administration estimate that nearly 50,000 people the AIIMS in Delhi each day, making robust mobile connectivity crucial. It has been reported that there are now several areas of the Institute with no to extremely poor cell connectivity, which is making patients, employees, and visitors very uncomfortable. Moreover, 3G/4G data access is quite limited in most regions, while 5G connectivity is virtually nonexistent inside Institute buildings.

On March 20, the officials are anticipated to circulate a request for expressions of interest among all 5G telecom service providers(TSPs) in Delhi. Following a study of the institute to identify any network gap, the TSPs are expected to make a recommendation for a fix to guarantee that 5G connectivity can be found throughout the entire facility. By June 30, as claimed by the officials, the campus must be 5G ready.
