India is getting 5G services far sooner than anticipated. Two significant telecom companies, Reliance Jio and Airtel, may roll out their 5G services in India as soon as the end of coming month according to sources. According to one of the most recent sources, the Indian government will formally introduce 5G on September 29 at the commencement of the India Mobile Congress.

According to reports, the roll-out of 5G services would take place in stages, with only a few towns seeing high-speed internet during the initial phase. In the first phase, 5G services will launch specifically in 13 cities. The list consists of: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune.

Following the issuance of letters allocating spectrum, telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw urged telecom service providers to prepare for the debut of 5G last week. He said, "Letter of assignment to Spectrum issued. TSPs are being asked to get ready for the debut of 5G." The winning bidders in the most recent 5G spectrum auction were Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, Adani Data Networks.

Does this imply that when the initial roll-out occurs, all residents of these cities will have access to 5G services? Not really. This might not be the case. It's feasible that carriers will offer 5G access in a few yet-unknown locations in the above mentioned cities. Simply said, there is a long way to go until 5G is available to everyone.
