ZTE wins Viettel network contract in Peru

ZTE has striked a deal with Peru-based mobile operator Viettel. ZTE will undertake this national 2G/3G wireless network project in phases, it will build more than 2000 base-stations in the first phase. Its SDR technology is helping the company to bag multi-national deals.

As part of the contract, ZTE will provide Uni-RAN solution to Viettel. This solution includes a series of products based on SDR technology, which enables operators to deploy their networks. ZTE will also provide operation management services such as its radio network optimization network tool to Viettel.

“In 2009, ZTE became Viettel's first 3G networking equipment supplier in Vietnam,” said Pu Yingchun, ZTE GSM/UMTS Product Lines General Manager. He added, “We are excited to help Viettel enter the South American market for the first time and we are confident that this new contract will help it grow further in the region.”

ZTE has won contracts from many top multinational operators, including: France Telecom, Telefonica, Telenor, Teliasonera, Etisalat, Hutchison, Telstra, KPN, and MTN. To date, ZTE's SDR equipment has been used by over 120 operators in more than 100 countries across the globe.
