ZTE wins Unitech's GSM network infra contract

ZTE Corporation, a global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has announced the signing of a GSM network infrastructure agreement with Unitech Wireless. Under the agreement, ZTE will provide GSM systems and core network equipment for a period of five years across the circles of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.

Unitech Wireless, a joint venture between Norway's Telenor Group and Unitech Group of India, holds the license to provide mobile phone services across all twenty-two telecom circles in India. The company is planning to roll out services in select circles by the end of 2009, under the brand name Uninor.

“This agreement not only marks our GSM network contract from a global telecom operator, but also provides us with an opportunity to establish and manage GSM networks in metros and large cities. We are confident that opportunities like these will serve to further accelerate our growth momentum and expand our business footprint in the fastest growing telecom market in the world,” said DK Ghosh, chairman and managing director, ZTE Telecom India.
