ZTE has signed a contract to modernise the Nigerian railway. The copmany will work with the project contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to provide advanced communications systems inorder to speed up the railway modernisation in Nigeria.
"CCECC has been charged with building a double-track standard-gauge railway from Lagos in the south to Kano in the north of Nigeria. The total length of this railway is 1,315 kilometers. This will be the first standard railway constructed by a Chinese company in Nigeria, and will be the first modern railway in Nigeria. With over 15 years of experience in the rail transport field, ZTE was chosen by both the CCECC and the customer help deliver this project," the company said in statement.
"ZTE will provide reliable and efficient information and communications system equipment and debugging and commissioning services for this project, ensuring the smooth operation of the modern railway," it said.
